Drawing day
‘No Man’s Land’ is an on-going participatory visual arts project devised by Piia Rossi and Crona Connolly. It can be described as a workshop/atelier or a ‘happening’ that explores both art making and the nature of participatory art projects.
In ‘No Man’s Land’ the participants are given carte blanche to work, we aim to encourage innovation and diversity, the collaborators’ artwork explores not only varying techniques but the differing ways we see and feel the world personally and politically. Conversations, collaborations and interventions form part of the experience. What we ask of our participants is simple – to help us to describe the essence of a place whether present or imagined.
The first ‘No Man’s Land’ project took place in the Original Print Gallery, Temple Bar, Dublin in October 2008. It allowed Rossi/Connolly and a heterogeneous group of participants to work in a gallery setting.
‘No Man’s Land’ has since taken place on the Dublin Central Station, as well as in Malahide Castle on the National Drawing Day and will take place on the Ireland-Wales ferry port in summer 2010. ‘No Man’s Land’ will also feature as a part of the Temple Bar Summer Festival in July 2010.
